Pinewood Derby

Cam's Vikings inspired derby car.

Cam competed in his first Pinewood Derby in January. We had no idea what we were in for until we showed up and saw the parents with drills, toolboxes, precision detailed cars, and serious faces. Cam's car was by no means the fastest, but he did have fun and I have a feeling next year will be a whole lot faster!

Cooper turns 4!

My little Jedi Cooper has officially turned 4!  We celebrated his birthday with family, Star Wars goodies, and lunch on the 15th of January, and then enjoyed pizza for his actually big day on the 24th.  Cooper was a little confused when the 24th came around and we were still in the celebrating mood...he was already 4, so why were we having another party?  Coop keeps telling peope that he's 4 when they ask, but that next he'll be 5!  Don't rush it Cooper, you're Mommy is trying to suck the last bits of baby out of you!!!
Happy Birthday, Cooper!!!  You are SO loved and cherished!!!

A+

Cameron scored 10/10 on his spelling test this week!  He just started spelling and does really well...he even took on the five challenge words to get a perfect score.  We went to Subway for supper to celebrate, which is Cam's favorite! :)

A Politician???

If only our sweet Cameron would put his smarts to better use...

1.  Cam to Coop, "Watch and learn kid!"  AND no, Cameron wasn't demonstrating the best behavior at the time.

2.  Cam goes to school and heads to the gym for morning (before school) kickball.  The teachers asks if he has had breakfast and Cam replies, yes.  Cam plays ball and at the end of the game says his stomach hurts and he needs breakfast.   The teacher says didn't you say you had breakfast and Cam replies, no.  The teacher allows him to have breakfast, which means...not only did he get to play kickball for the full time, but he also got breakfast AND was able to head to class late.  YES, this has happened more than once.

3.  Cam and another boy are wrestling at Kidstop.  The boys are not allowed to wrestle, so they are sent to the office.  The other boy is worried, he hasn't been to the office before, however Cameron has been to the office before... Cam tells the other boy, "Don't worry they'll just have you sit here for five minutes, tell you not to do it again, and then you can go play."  The Kidstop manager couldn't help but laugh since Cam said it with such a straight face and so matter of fact.

Yes, we have a SMART boy on our hands that knows how to work the system.  Grandpa Guy thinks he might grow up to be a politician! :)

Top Chef Eggo Waffles

I'm a huge fan of the show Top Chef...and now I have my own little Top Chefs cooking up a storm in my kitchen.  My boys love to help me cook and bake and they especially like that they can do some of "their own" cooking.  Cameron's specialties are PB&J and Eggo waffles.  Coop's specialties are whatever he can get his hands on by climbing onto the counter (we even noticed a loose drawer handle last night-a result of his climbing skills).

This morning I was treated to breakfast by my boys...an Eggo waffle was waiting for me in a plastic baggie as I was heading out the door.  Cam and Coop decided they were on KP duty this morning and made the ENTIRE box of waffles-funny how the whole box made it into the toaster within three minutes...  Bryant did need to do some microwaving, so the middles weren't frozen, however the boys were primarily interested in how much butter and syrup they could add to their creations.

You never know-I might be watching my boys on an episode of Top Chef sometime in the future!

Whistle!

Cooper had his preschool screening yesterday...

Teacher:  "What's this?"

Coop:  "Airplane."

Teacher:  "What does it do?

Coop:  "It flies."

Teacher:  "What's this?"

Coop:  "Whistle."

Teacher:  "What happens when you blow into it?"

Coop:  "It's time for football!"

Laughter...me, Coop, and the teacher! :)  He made his Daddy proud!

It's Elf Time!

We started a new tradition last year, Elf on the Shelf.  My boys love checking to see where  Hunter, the elf, is hiding each morning.  However, this can be a stressful activity for parents, who need to "help" the elf move during the night.  I've already had dreams I've forgotten to move him, and have woken up with a start to get him to a new spot before the boys wake up.
Give it a try!  A wonderful tradition that your kids will love...even if you end up losing sleep over it!

Hot Lady

Cameron was talking college tonight...when he would go, what Coop would be doing while he was at college, and then I asked him what he planned to do after college. I asked him if he was going to get a job, get married, etc., and then I asked, "Who are you going to marry?" Cam's response...."A HOT lady....like you!" Yes, my boy definitely knows how to win some brownie points and make his Mama LAUGH!

Sioux City, IA

Running off some energy at a near by park

 Natalie and Cam
 Jill and Mom
 Sweet Charlotte
The crew headed to the pumpkin patch
 All our adorable kiddos!
 Attack of the Spider
 Everyone enjoying the train ride

What a trip!  Mom, Cam, Coop, and I headed out Wednesday afternoon to Sioux City, IA to see my cousin and her kiddos.  We spent over five hours in the car on the way there and over seven on the way back...we scooted over to River Falls, WI to see my Grandma, Aunt, and cousins on the way home.  Yes, that's three days, three states, and 12+ hours in the car, so you're probably thinking, UGH!  However, I must say that we had a GREAT time!  The boys were super travelers (except for Cam getting a bit car sick and throwing up beef sticks on the way into the cities...picture my Mom's butt in my face while she's bending into the back of the van to wipe up puke!) and our visit with my cousin was so nice.  We got in Wednesday around 6 and stayed at a beautiful hotel, The Stony Creek Inn.  After dinner at Famous Daves the boys spent some time in the pool and then it was off to bed to rest up for our big day on Thursday.  We headed over to Jill's house and were instantly welcomed by Britton (4 1/2) and Natalie (2 1/2), who bonded with our boys within seconds over the subject of Star Wars.  We also got a chance to love on sweet Charlotte (5 months)...such a wonderful baby, who as Cooper puts it, "poops money" because we discovered a quarter in her sleeper.  :)  After visiting and seeing their great house we headed to the park, pumpkin patch, grabbed lunch, cruised back to Jill's to eat, and then back to our hotel to swim.  We took a break for naps, and then met up at Red Robin for some dinner...after that it was time for bed, so that we could have one last play time the next day before we headed north.  We're so happy we were able to spend some quality time with Jill and her family...if only it could happen more often.  My kiddos can't wait to see their cousins again and neither can I.
